Current Descendent Tree Available for d/l (PDF)

I have created a new Genealogy Tree and it's available for download. You will need to email me to obtain the d/l link using tracash at canada.com or tom at muskoka-on.com. Unfortunately, not everyone got back to me with missing information. That will be added for the next "replacement".

The genealogy TREE comprises direct descendants of John Seedoes (b 1859). There are 256 identified individuals in the direct line who have offspring. (Say John's name fast and you'll hear "Seedhouse".)

The complete family file is 62708 KB in size with 2044 individuals (includes ancestors/descendants of parties entered as spouses etc.), along with recording 614 marriages. The oldest entry is a birthday of 850 AD, (that person is an entry from my Mother's lineage information).

...and now for my rant:

I really don't care if you don't get along with your parents, your siblings or even your children. What I do care about is obtaining and retaining the most accurate information possible, be it family information, or health information so that those who follow us can establish the links necessary for them to complete the records. We will all pass, some sooner than others. We have all now likely buried our parents; and unfortunately, some of us one or more of our children/step children and maybe even a grandchild. Let us all ensure that whatever we know, we collect for future generations even if it's a disclosure to the location where you have that necessary information tucked away. Hopefully you will fill in any blanks you notice in this publication.

History is damn important, we learn from it every day. And if you think you might be adopted or maybe one or more of your parents or grandparents were adopted, who cares. They loved enough to add that person (maybe you) to their family and that family is our family. We want you to feel welcome.

The Genealogy Report is just that, it does not disclose a great deal of information regarding anyone who has no offspring, or a spouse's ancestry.

John-Paul

Received this e-mail this morning:
"Came across your blog while surfing. I am John-Paul Seedhouse. I wonder if there may be a connection – tenuous I would imagine.

My grandfather was Hugh Seedhouse, who married Florence Smith in a town called Brownhills in the West Midlands area of England. They briefly went to Canada on the assisted passage scheme early in the 20th century and I believe settled on the east coast before being forced to return to the UK due to Florence's ill health. They had a son William Gordon – my father in 1939, having returned to live in Brownhills. I know a number of Seedhouses live still in this town.

Hugh Seedhouse I have found so far, was registered for birth in the diocese of Lichfield Staffordshire. Regrettably my father passed away 3 years ago and my grandfather in 1977 and we no longer have contact with any local Seedhouse family members. I have often wondered about the Canada period of my Grandfather's life as he was a quiet man and never spoke of much family history in my lifetime.

Sorry to bend your ear
John Seedhouse, Lichfield, England

Great to "hear" from John-Paul and we hope to be able to establish a concrete link with his confirmation of a few names hopefully retained in his memory bank. If any family members think they might know the link, let me know.

"Happy posting"

I Just Had To Post This

An old prospector walks his tired old mule into a western town one day. He'd been out in the desert for about six months without a drop of whiskey. He walked up to the first saloon he came to and tied his old mule to the hitch rail.

As he stood there brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a gunslinger walked out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, "Hey old man, have you ever danced?"

The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, "No, I never did dance. I just never wanted to."

A crowd had gathered by then and the gunslinger said, "Well, you old fool, you're gonna' dance now," and started shooting at the old man's feet.

The old prospector was hopping around and everybody was laughing.

When the gunslinger fired his last bullet, he holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man reached up on the mule, drew his shotgun, and pulled both hammers back making a double clicking sound. The gunslinger heard the sound and everything got quiet. The crowd watched as the gunslinger slowly turned around looking down both barrels of the shotgun.

The old man asked, "Did you ever kiss a mule's ass?"

The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, "No. But I've always wanted to."

Don't mess with old farts . . .

...especially since we're all gettin' there! Thanks to Jack & Penny. I'm not sure which one has the sense of humour!

The West Coast Seedhouse's

I received this from Frank Boulton (Gwen Forester - Ida Forester nee Seedhouse). If you need an explanation, email me.

Hello Tom,
When Gwen and I were transferred to Vancouver in the early '60 's by VW Canada, they opened their new regional office in Burnaby. We lived in North Vancouver for several years, and during that time we would visit the Ernie Seedhouse family and enjoyed their company until we were tranfered back to Toronto after I joined Toyota.

We visited some friends in Brentwood Bay on the Island a couple of years ago and our friend there put us in touch with a Seedhouse, but he claimed not to be kin, and was not interested in visiting with us.

Please convey this information on to the "Island family" as we have fond memories from there.
Frank Boulton

Frank, great to hear from you and thanks for the "post". I'm not sure when Craig (if that was him) moved out west but that could very well have been him. In any event, not sure why he wants no information regarding his ancestors. With luck we'll get some subscribers and more comments/postings so we can all "get to know" each other a bit better, even if it is only in a few words in a Blog.

Tom

Canadian Weather

To those Family Members out on the BC coast (Vancouver etc.), you have been experiencing some really wicked weather over the last few months. Whose feathers you ruffle?

Stay safe!

Hello to John in BC

Hi
I am John Seedhouse and have received an e-mail outlining the Seedhouse family blog. I like the idea of getting to know my long lost relatives. I am, however, new to this whole blog thing and do not know how to even post a comment...

I am the 3rd son of Edward and Flo Seedhouse, brother of Ed and Ernie Seedhouse, originally from Victoria BC. I am currently living in Fort Nelson British Columbia and I have 3 adult children Asia Sundew 24, Zenon 26 an Rigel 32. Asia is currently enrolled at the University of British Columbia in the co-op program and working for a publisher somewhere up the Sunshine coast (English major) Zenon has a degree in theology.... and is living with his half brother Rigel in Abbotsford, who is a part time musician while working in sales and taking philosophy courses...

My Grandfather ( Ernie Seedhouse ) came out from somewhere in England around the turn of the 20th century with, I believe, two or three? brothers, who settled in Ontario. The names Tom and Alfie? I think ring a bell somewhere in my muddled sub-conscious.

Anyway, greetings from the wild north of BC....perhaps some of this rings a bell with yourself and you can enlighten me further

Respectfully yours
John

We sent John a PDF which should fill him in quite a bit. He is my 2nd cousin.

Tom, silly question...how do you post to create a new strand as opposed to a "comment"?

Hi All

Many thanks Tom for putting this onto the website. It was sent to me by my mother and father Eileen and Roger (Connie's Eldest Son). It is great to be able to share with everyone how much she cared and affected our lives. The world has lost a great provider of jumpers and mars bar cake. Thanks Rich

You are welcome. Feel free to add comments to other posts or send what you want posted to me.

From Tom....

  1. Unfortunately starting a new thread is all but impossible without paying out some hefty cash for a different system. Feel free to send me anything you wish posted to: "tom at muskoka-on dot com" and/or "tracash at canada dot com". (Written this way to deter e-mail harvesters.
  2. About every month or so I create a "Genealogy Report" in PDF format. I then upload it to one of my websites for a few days allowing anyone I provide the download link to, to obtain a copy. If you would like to be added to the list to obtain that link, let me know in a direct e-mail tracash at canada dot com.
  3. When we receive a post such as the one regarding Constance (Connie), it will also find its' way into the Family Tree. We use Family Tree Maker and there is an area where we can add comments, and comments reflecting one's life are very important to those who follow that line. Comments also show up in the Genealogy Report mentioned above.
  4. About once a year, we also offer the programme and data on a CD, but request that you pay for the postage and disc. Let us know if that is of interest to you as well, since you then get everything, all the lines wherever the information goes and we have entered data, you get it. My own Mother's lineage is in the complete data, all the way back to 850.
All for now.

Various Updates

1. Joanne tells us that her eldest is engaged. (You don't know who Joanne is, oh well!)
2. Julie is just about ready to have her third, a son as we understand it. Both Julie and Dino seem to be on "cloud 9".
3. No word from Craig or Cathryn, so I guess they wish to remain as is.
4. Carl has turned into "Mr. Mom" as Dorkha is suffering from gall-stones. Surgery is just around the corner.
5. Julie is 42 today, Stephen is 44 tomorrow, Bill is 66 on the 12th. (Sorry if I missed you. Going through the Tree is somewhat difficult. Send e-mail with whatever I missed. tom at muskoka-on dot com)

Connie Seedhouse

As requested by Richard Seedhouse, a short synopsis of Connie's life, August 26 1917 - July 23 2006, (Forever loved)

"Connie Seedhouse was born in 1917 in the village of Bulkington and attended primary school there. When she was 9 years of age the family moved to Canada which she enjoyed very much, but returned with her mother 11 years later to Tile Hill in Coventry

She took employment with the Standard Motor Company, working on manufacturing aircraft parts. It was there she met her husband Joseph Seedhouse and they were married in 1938. He was invalided back from Dunkirk in 1940 and they spent a happy 18 years of married life until tragically Joseph was killed in a road accident in 1956.That was also the year in which a close friend of Connies died leaving a very young baby boy called Laurence whom she adopted.

She took work in various locations to support herself, her daughter and four young sons. There was very little, if any Social Services at that time and it was to her credit that all have experienced a loving home and done well.

She was a founder member of the Canley Evangelical Church and a regular attendee and was among the first group to be baptised. She made sure all the children attended Sunday School and Bible Classes. Her close friend was Mrs Watts, who together took notice of those ladies who dared to attend Church without hats. In later years she faithfully attended Ladies Hour on a Wednesday afternoon.

She had a great sense of humour - with thrift. in 1945 she spent 30 shillings on one of the original artificial Christmas Trees that Joseph thought was a waste of money, in fact it turned out to be a great investment, it came out every Christmas time for 59 years. That is not all, it has now been passed on to grandson Paul, even though it has lost most of its greenery and now looks more like a collection of bottle brushes.

She never drove a car or rode a bike but she made up for it when in control, or not, of a mobile scooter. She appreciated the accelerator but not the brake. Many a display in the shops would be knocked over, well they should not have been placed in such awkward places, She loved going into town, the highlight of her week.

She had a passion for cards, especially if they had a nice verse or poem inside. Knitting was one of her favourite hobbies, and she often made pullovers or cardigans for the family. It also gave her great delight to bake her grand children's favourite cakes."

Happy New Year (Continued)

OUR Wish for You in 2007

Happy New Year~~~~~

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had, forget your home address! In simple words ............
May 2007 be the best year of your life!!!

(Sent to me by Jack & Penny and I thought I'd pass it along to other family members.)
